BIO

Dr. Frederick Uy is a Professor of Mathematics Education in the Division of Curriculum and Instruction in the Charter College of Education, CSULA. He also served as the Associate Chair for two years in this division. Dr. Uy's academic background include: a doctorate from Columbia University (Mathematics Education), a master's degree from Montclair State University (Pure and Applied Mathematics), and a bachelor's degree from the University of the Philippines, Diliman (Pure and Applied Mathematics). His research interests are in multicultural mathematics, curricular development, bilingual education, and professional development. He has been conducting professional development workshops at the local, state, national and international levels for in-service teachers in elementary, middle, and high schools for more than twenty years. Prior to becoming a full-time faculty member in CSULA in 1998, Dr. Uy taught various mathematics courses in middle and high school settings and local colleges in New York City. He is currently serving as a consultant to school districts e. g. Los Angeles, Lynwood, Bassett, El Rancho, Keppel, Alhambra, and as a member of various intervention teams. He also is a reviewer for many professional journals and has published many scholarly papers.
